4. Write a blog post inspired by the word: break.
A couple of weeks ago I created a Spring Break bucket list filled with activities I wanted to do with the kids while they were home. At the end of my post I joked that in reality the only thing I was confident we would do for sure is the Spring Break staycation because I had already paid for it.
I thought it would be fun to look back and see how many things we really did accomplish from my list. Am I more driven to do the fun things than I originally gave myself credit for? Without further ado…the list:
1. Explore Seattle
Nope. I don’t know why not. I did have my three nieces to take care of all week…I suppose packing the three of them up to tromp around Seattle with my older kids just didn’t sound as fun when push came to shove.
2. Find a Wall
Nope. Same excuse. Who has time to search for walls in the middle of a week? When I created my bucket list I did not take into consideration that of the two weekends my kids were given, one weekend was filled with volleyball tournaments and the other weekend we were out of town. I had 5 days to drive around in a full van to search for a wall? No. And I shouldn’t have added it in the first place!
3. Let’s Go To The Movies!
Okay this is not my fault. I offered to drop the kids off at a movie and none of them could agree on one and none of them were liking each other enough to compromise, so no movie.
4. Shop Til We Drop
With what money? Nope, didn’t do this. Don’t regret it.
5. Make Cookies
I have no excuse. This would have taken a solid hour of my time and Kainoa would have loved to help. It would have broken his trance from his video games. I’m a terrible human.
6. Go Whale Watching
This still sounds like fun. But no.
7. Inner Tubing at Snoqualmie
Totally forgot about this one! I mean, even if I had remembered we still wouldn’t have gone, but it’s a good idea and I really have been wanting to take them.
8. Staycation!
Hey we did it. We had our staycation! I mentioned awhile back that we had some trouble finding a cabin rental this year because the first place we secured came with a live in clown. It came down to the wire, but we reserved a lovely place in Packwood, Washington. We saw Elk and raging rivers. We traveled up to White Pass for lunch with a view and if the passes to Mt. Rainier National Park were open, we would have ventured in for a hike:

I hit one out of eight activities in my Spring Break bucket list. My goal for next year will be to manage two of those items!

Summer vacation is coming—I hope you’ll be able to work in a fun food project, the whale watching and that park when there’s more time.

Great job! I was beginning to worry that you were going to fail at spring break. Great save! Looks wonderful!
