Prompt: Do you have any summer goals? Write about them!
I didn’t start summer vacation with any particular goals in mind, but maybe coming up with some and writing them down will help put some fun activities into motion. Here are my Summer Lovin’ Goals!:
1. Go Camping
Camping will be an easy task to accomplish because we go every year and the trip is already planned. I set up the family camping trip every year at a new location and last year nearly all of the kids declared it was the best location yet. We stayed at Birch Bay State Park and the kids were a bike ride away from a store, a park, and the ocean…it’s going to be a tough one to beat, but this year I selected Alder Lake State Park and I feel like it will give last year’s trip a run for its money. There is a park, a lake, a damn AND it is a short drive from a railroad station and just about an hour from Mt. Rainier. Maybe we could go for a little hike…AND a Mt. Rainier visit will help me meet my next goal.
2. Visit 5 Volcanoes
One of my New Year’s Resolutions this year was to visit all five of Washington’s volcanoes (Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Baker, Mt Adams, Glacier Peak) . I don’t know if I can cram them all in this summer, but the more I knock off my list the better! Once fall hits volleyball season will begin and we won’t have time. Not to mention they start closing roads and cut my access off when we get into winter.
3. Meet Alpacas
I purchased a Groupon to an Alpaca farm so this is another goal that I better accomplish or I’ll lose money. I can’t wait to snap some pics of those fluffy faces!
4. Go Bowling
Last summer I was feeling guilty about the amount of time I was spending working and one night gathered the kids for an impromptu bowling date. It turned out to be so much fun because nothing was over planned, they had zero expectations and therefore were just thrilled to be there. I want to recreate that night.
5. A Late Night Movie
While I’m at it, I’d like to slip in a late night movie session. My kids are at that age where they could sleep until noon and then happily flit around the house late at night. I wish we still had a Drive-In Theatre option nearby, but the last time we did that the kids were still taking naps for me in the afternoon. I believe the closest one to us is over an hour away. I WOULD add that to my list, but with all of the Volcano traveling I plan to do, I think I’m probably already stretched thin on road trips.
6. Sunset on the Ocean
Did I say I was stretched thin on road trips? Okay, with the exception of the ocean! I recently went camping with a BFF at the ocean and I was really hoping to capture a sunset. It’s my favorite part of ocean visits and it’s been too long. So before summer is over, I’m going to shove my sleepy big kids in the van and we’re going to have an ocean day.
7. Foster HEALTHY Kittens
After losing the litter I was fostering before summer started, I still have not gotten a proper kitten fix. I would love to get my hands on a new healthy litter of kittens, but preferably after the road trips…so we might have to push this goal back to the end of summer/early fall.
8. Get Rich Quick
You know, I could accomplish all of my summer goals a whole lot faster if I didn’t have to work. Getting rich quick seems like the best solution I can come up with.
We still have two months left. What are your summer goals?
Now it’s your turn!

The Prompts:
1. Do you have any summer goals? Write about them!
2. Share your favorite summer photo so far!
3. Make a list of the latest fashion trends that you just cannot do.
4. The last thing that made you laugh.
5. Write a blog post the ends with the word: melting
6. List 7 things you’d rather be doing this summer.
7. What advice would a life coach give you about how to improve your daily life?
John Holton says
2. If you wanted to stretch it, Crater Lake (I know, it’s in Oregon) is an inactive volcano. Two suggestions if you go there: dress warmly, because it’s colder than a penguin’s butt, and go to the bathroom before you go up there, because there ain’t any bathroom facilities at the top.
3. That’s a buffalo with Pat, isn’t it? Alpacas are cuter, and Mary tells me the wool from them is fantastic to work with.
4. We used to love to bowl, but there’s nowhere to bowl around here anymore.
6. Greatest sunset over the ocean (and the only one I’ve seen) is in Venice Beach. But I bet it’s pretty regardless of where you see it.
7. You might go for a slightly older litter, say 2-3 months. We had a litter here, and thank heaven they were healthy (I don’t think I could cope otherwise), but they’re usually pretty strong by then.
8. I keep waiting to win the Publisher’s Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, myself…

That bison was the closest thing I could find to an alpaca in my photo archives! lol!
I’ll add Venice beach to NEXT summer’s list!

Nice list! How to include volcanoes and kittens in one blog post?! Yes, 8 would make life easier.
And I’m with John. I see a buffalo – or bison, what’s the diff anyway?? – with the alpaca goal.
