3. Throwback Thursday: Choose a photo from August 10 years ago and write a poem or a blog post.
Ten years ago I was still spending my summers trying to find wonderful ways to entertain my children. I was still meeting up with my siblings and their kids for fun adventure days. Except ten years ago my kids were all three under the age of six and so ridiculously adorable I can’t even physically stand to look at their baby selves.
We used to spend a lot of our summer evenings at my sister’s local swim club. We haven’t been there even once this summer!
I know those days were crazy hectic. Getting the kids dressed and out the door was no easy feat. Prepping them for bed at night was an hours-long routine. Nowadays I just yell, “bed!” and I think eventually they go. I don’t really pay attention because they don’t need me to bathe, change, brush, and baby them. I LOVE being a mom to older kids for that little bit of ease and freedom it has awarded me, but I’ll be honest…I’d definitely love to go back and squeeze those little baby faces again. They were so easy to please and they didn’t call me cringey!

So they were 3, 4, and 5? Wow, hard to imagine.
If we called our mother cringey, she’d have killed us.
Seriously, you have a beautiful family.

Those special moments went by all too quickly. I think of mine with my children so often, probably more so now that I’m dealing with the same scenario with my grandkids. Soft cuddles have turned to grown-up hugs and “teach me to drive” requests, first year of college, middle school, first jobs….time keeps rushing by.
Sweet post, Kat!
