My last three images on Instagram are of my most recent foster baby Ollie. My local shelter hit me up to foster again almost immediately after my last eight kitties were adopted and I declined because after fostering eight kitties you really do need a moment to come up for air.
Not only that, but I keep them in Kainoa’s room since he basically deserted it for the past two years. After my last batch he decided to reclaim his room and I still don’t know where I’m going to keep a whole litter again. I told the shelter maybe I could do a small group and keep them in a bathroom, but they ended up giving me one little guy to foster.
I couldn’t keep Ollie in a bathroom or bedroom all by himself, that would just get too lonely…so he’s been basically working with me at my desk in the kitchen. He has met the dogs and day by day became a brave and outgoing little guy. My only complaint is that he preferred to sleep either directly on top of my computer OR directly in front of my computer OR directly on top of my arms while I was trying to work on my computer.
Correction, I have another complaint to file…my little brown Shih Tzu Sandy enjoys eating the kitty litter box. I had to keep a close obnoxious eye on her or I’d find chomped up litter bits in the living room. But that’s not really Ollie’s fault at all. In fact, I’m proud of Ollie for using his litter box so well to begin with.
The hardest part of fostering is letting the babies go when they’re big enough to get adopted. Since Ollie spent so much time with me in the kitchen, I’m particularly attached. I brought him to the animal shelter for his surgery and tonight I went to the website to see if he was on the adoption floor yet. And he is. :(
He is advertised as needing a home for the holidays and it’s breaking my heart. I know they’re just thinking of something to make him desirable, but my gut reaction is that I need to go get him and be his home for the holidays. He’s at Pet Smart!?! Just sitting there worried and missing me?? This is a really hard one to stand by and watch. He better get adopted tomorrow or God help me.

Ollie is just adorable, and thank God you fostered him, because if I had, he’d never leave. He will be a very nice kitty for a family that will love him. Let’s pray that he finds that family, and that they find him.

They better find him quick. I’m not kidding about going back to get him if he’s at the shelter/Pet Smart too long. I’ve done it before! lol

I don’t blame you; I’d have to go get the little guy, too, if he hadn’t found a home really soon! I’ll stop with that, though, because I am the worst kind of enabler when it comes to pets. It’s how I ended up with three dogs, two of whom I can’t trust to literally not kill each other. Ollie sure is precious, though.
In my Facebook memories the other day I saw where I posted a few years ago lamenting my allergy to some cats, because I really want to get a big, fuzzy boy and name him “Jason Meowmoa”.
