2. Write about what you did last Saturday.
Last Saturday we left the house. Every year we have our annual camping trip with my sisters and brothers and for a minute I didn’t think we were going to pull it off this year. With Covid running rampant, all of us were not super keen on the idea of bunking up at a state park with the general public. We were actually nervous enough just to be around each other so it was a big step to decide to move forward.
Rather than book a public park, I decided to check Airbnb for camplike experiences we could reserve on someone’s private property. It’s actually a lot more common than I thought. I narrowed it down to two contenders and one of them was booked for the summer, so a camping trip to Christmas Creek was booked!
We were quickly wowed by the property. The campground is situated just past a Christmas Tree farm, we had acres and acres of privacy, a cabin equipped with a kitchen and sitting area, plenty of room for all of our tents and tons of activities at our fingertips. Not to mention, we finally got to see each other.
We had s’mores and played volleyball. We sang campfire songs and watched rainy day movies on a big screen. Life was…dare I say…NORMAL? Life was normal! We discussed the option of refusing to leave for the rest of summer vacation and demand squatter’s rights. We could stay quarantined together and there’s nothing the owner’s could do about it!
Unfortunately, all our fun did come to an end. I am so glad we were able to pull it off without even a whisper of illness to report thank goodness. I’m hoping next year when we plan our trip we do not need to be so careful about where we go or who we are exposed to. I’d love nothing more than to see this virus buried in the past where it belongs.

Wow! Just love this, Kat!
So very happy you all got to experience something “normal”!
And a Christmas Tree farm….did you tag a tree for Christmas which is exactly 176 days away?
Stay safe!

I tried leaving you a comment, but it seems to have been eaten…
I’m glad you got out and had a family get-together despite Covid-19. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s actually as big a threat as they made it out to be.

Two thumbs up. Glad you got away!

What an amazing trip, and what memories! My sons would be too bored to go with me somewhere secluded and off the grid, but I was thinking about a trip to such a place by myself. And once this pandemic is over, I want to take a mother-daughter trip with my Mom – I’d love to go to Mexico, but I don’t think she’d go for it. But I bet I could get her to New Orleans!
