3. Write a blog post inspired by the word: thankful.
I don’t think any of us could have guessed what 2020 was going to have in store for us. Sending kids home from school abruptly due to a virus was a new experience for me back in March and if you had told me that 8 months later we would still be home I would have been stunned. I had not even considered that the virus would last long enough to affect our holidays, but here we are.
More than anything I am abundantly thankful that my family has managed to dodge covid so far. I have seen all of the scary stories about how quickly some people die from this and I want nothing to do with that. I have also seen how the long term effects of covid can debilitate those who “recover” from it. My niece (Harper’s mom) is still struggling after contracting covid back in March. Her list of symptoms and side effects grows daily. She is in and out of hospitals as doctors try to address everything going wrong with her in the aftermath of that stupid virus. It has turned her household upside down as my sister and mom have become Harper’s main caregivers while my niece suffers. It’s terrible…I want nothing to do with that in this household, though I’ll admit watching it unfold in my sister’s household is pretty heartbreaking too.
I’m thankful this year that even though we cannot all be together, my family is still close and texting updates often enough that it doesn’t feel like we’re that distant. And I’m not gonna lie, I do like being home. I’m thankful I don’t need to think of an outfit to wear to Thanksgiving dinner at mom’s house or worry that I won’t be able to hide all the pandemic weight I’ve gained. I’m looking forward to a Thanksgiving dinner at my house with my kids and I’ll be even more thankful if they all clean up for me afterward. ;)
Happy Thanksgiving! I wish you all a very healthy covid free rest of the year!

First, Happy Thanksgiving!
Hopefully by the middle of 2021 sufficient numbers of people will be vaccinated that enough “medical experts” will deem it possible to leave the house without a mask and to come within six feet of each other. Guess we’ll have to see…

So, what did you decide to do for you family thanksgiving dinner?

I think you summed it up perfectly, Kat….and the operative word here is simply…”thankful”!
Our lives have changed during this virus-crisis and we’ve learned to make-do, wherever and whenever we can.
Hope you and your family enjoyed a peaceful day and that they DID help to clean-up afterwards!
Stay safe!
