1. Write about something you are looking forward to.
Despite the fact that we are neck-deep in a pandemic, I do have things I’m looking forward to! I find that keeping my eyes on a future prize keeps me motivated every day so I always try to find something, no matter how small, to get excited for:
1. Going Back To The Gym
My gym opened for a hot second recently and I actually started working out consistently nearly 5 days a week. Avoiding a workout is something I happen to be very good at so I was proud of myself for keeping it up. And then we got shut down…so while I kind of dread starting all over from square one…I know I can do it! We just need Covid to go away.
2. Volleyball Season
Before our most recent shutdown and while gyms were still open, my girls had the opportunity to tryout for a volleyball club. It felt so good to see them moving again. They haven’t really played since their season was canceled last March. Each of them made a team and it looks like we might have a season this year after all. I look forward to seeing THEM back in the gym. We just need Covid to go away.
3. Christmas!
Who doesn’t love Christmas? I already started tackling my list. This is early for me since I usually wait until the week before Christmas and then freak out when I can’t find the season’s equivalent to Tickle Me Elmo. I feel good about my early start and I’d feel even better if Christmas meant hanging out with my sisters and brothers at my Mom’s house for dinner. We just need Covid to go away.
4. Hawaii!
It has been years since we have been back to the islands to visit our Hawaiian family. We miss them so much. I look forward to planning a trip where we can spend afternoons barbecuing at the beach and evenings drinking beer in my brother in laws driveway while listening to all of their stories. We just need Covid to go away.
5. A Quiet House
I really enjoy my kids. They’re cute and smart and actually really funny. I love having them home, I love that they are self sufficient, and I love that they are all around good kids. But I also love the sound of silence. I look forward to sending them back to school where they can reconnect with friends and thrive and I can hear silence again. We just need Covid to go aways.
6. A Covid Vaccine/Cure
I think we are seeing a common thread here. There is so much to look forward to, but first COVID. All this buzz about a vaccine is exciting…I don’t know if I’ll take it per se, BUT it sounds like things could potentially get back to normal soon if a vaccine is approved and more than anything I look forward to THAT!
I think it goes without saying that what I’m looking forward to more than anything is normalcy. A life without stupid covid where we’re not wondering from one minute to the next about whether or not our kids can go to school or if it’s safe to go inside a grocery store. So while I do have a list of things to look forward to, a cure/vaccine tops it all.

An Air Force friend of ours is stationed in Hawaii (Oahu) and she said Hawaii has opened back up very recently. So I’m sure there’s hope perhaps later next year or the year after you could go. The covid vaccine isn’t expected to be available to the general public for 6 months (spring 2021). I, too, look forward to some normalcy.

Have you seen where some experts are now saying the kids should have gone back to school?
I’ll probably wait rto make sure the vaccine won’t kill me, but having it will allow things to get back to normal. I hope. This is asinine, as Dad used to say.

The operative words are most definitely….”we just need COVID to go away”.
Yes, we were warned that this virus would return and some lock-downs (California) are already starting up again. Here in New York, our governor put out this same threat earlier today. Sad for everyone during this time of year when people are dealing with an almost crazed anticipation of the holidays, many out of work, many more terrified of getting the virus.
We will all have to find the joy of the season as best we can.
