2. Write about something you are afraid of.
When I was little I was scared of my big brother.
I was not allowed in the room he shared with my little brother.
But the Nintendo was in there.
I would sneak in to play Super Mario Bro. and I would hide in the closet if we heard him coming.
Hiding in the closet is a terribly anxious feeling because you know if you get caught, there is nowhere to go.
I tried running from him once, but he was much faster than me and laughed when he caught me and pinned me to the ground and threatened to spit on my face.
I say “threatened” when what I mean is that he would let a drool of spit leave his mouth and would suck it back up when it got close to my face.
Sometimes it didn’t suck back up.
It’s a little tricky to get the timing just right and if the person you have pinned to the ground is squirmy then it’s even more difficult.
I know this from all the times I failed to suck the spit back up before it landed in my little sister’s face.
We’re all grown and he’s much nicer now that I no longer break in to play his video games with my little brother.
But I’m still afraid of him.
I’m pretty sure he’s still faster than me.

Did anyone ever say something like “he just does that because he loves you”? And ain’t that a lousy thing to say to someone?

I missed-out on all that sibling “warfare” as an only child but…got a major dose of it watching my three kids.
Our middle child was (and still can be) the one to fear. I hide from her often.
Stay safe!
