3. Write a blog post inspired by the word: fight
I have celebrated my half birthday every year of my life for tax purposes. I was born the day after Christmas. Since people are usually busy with their own families during the holiday season and since my Mom had her own six kids’ Christmas lists to fulfill, adding a birthday party into the mix felt a bit much. Rather than fight to squeeze in a day to celebrate my special day, we have always celebrated my birthday on June 26.
This was an ok idea in theory, but it got a little confusing for big birthdays like 13 (finally a teen!), 16 (sweet sixteen!), 18 (an adult), 21 (party time!). Do you celebrate milestone birthdays on the actual birth date or do you wait until June? If I celebrate a milestone birthday on the birth date, I would have to wait a year and a half to get back on track with the half birthdays OR celebrate the half birthday and unfairly (according to my siblings) wind up celebrating twice in one year.
The whole charade really could have been avoided when my Mom selected the date of her c-section. She had the opportunity to select a January date, but admits the tax benefit appealed to her, so here I am. I know my birthday is all wrong because I never EVER relate to a single Capricorn personality description:
“Capricorns are the ultimate worker bees. They’re ambitious, organized, practical, goal-oriented, and they don’t mind the hustle. “They’re ready to give up a lot in order to achieve that goal,” Verk says. They also love making their own rules, which means they strive to reach high career positions.”
Anyone who knows me knows that I am 100% the exact opposite of that level of motivation and hustle. A worker bee?? If I’m working hard at any given time, it’s so that I can finish a job sooner to get back to doing nothing.
Maybe my moon is all messed up as it fights to determine who I am. Maybe I identify as a Cancer since I have celebrated so many birthdays in June.
I don’t know who I am or what my age is at this point, but I’m glad my Mom received that TAX BREAK.
