3. What six words would your spouse use to describe you?
I did this prompt back in 2009, but did not like the list of six words Pat came up with to describe me, so I asked six-year-old Maile and she said I am:
1. Speshul.
2. A Sweetie.
3. Pretty.
4. Gorgiss
5. Hearts.
6. Love.
She called me a sweetie? Why are kids actually the most darling things ever?
Pat’s list was:
1. Caring.
2. Whiny.
3. Gossipy.
4. Friendly.
5/6. Short Sighted.
And while I did not like that every descriptive word was not positive…he was (is) mostly right. I’m not exactly sure what short-sighted was supposed to mean. He used to say I wasn’t seeing “the big picture” when I wanted to spend money while we should have been saving. So maybe it had something to do with that? I’m not sure. If we’re being literal about it, I mean he’s the one with glasses soooo…who knows.
When I asked Pat to update his list so that I could compare it, he said:
1. Fun
2. Nurturing
3. Nagging
4. Stronger
5. Smarter
6. And still pretty.
I told him he never called me pretty the first time and when I shared the original list with him he said, “not friendly anymore.”
Overall I’m pleased to see whiny, gossipy and short-sighted have been replaced with nagging. And I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t be nagging at all if he would just do what he’s told. I think it’s clear I’m like a fine wine, getting better with age. Even if I’m not friendly anymore.
Now it’s your turn!

Definitely like a fine wine. Definitely not just an old bottle of Welch’s grape juice.

Let’s face it, Kat…as wives, we’ve been blessed with the constant challenge to nag the heck out of our spouses, bestowed by the mothers who raised them. My husband cannot get out the door without me going through a daily checklist….”phone, keys, glasses, cap, paperwork, lunch??”
Motherhood does not end with our children growing-up and moving out…nay, nay…it continues with our husbands. And continues….
And I think you are dayum friendly! (So there, Pat!!!)
